Rustom collections: Akshay Kumar has been a miracle man at the movies and Bollywood is counting its blessings. While there are very few movies that actually manage to make it big, those that do go a long way in keeping the industry, and the hundreds of thousands of people that it employs, afloat. That completes the entertainment cycle. And this is what Akshay Kumar one of Bollywood's most loved actors. His Midas touch ensures a movie gets great returns even from some very small budget films.

While no one will call any film done by Akshay Kumar a small-budget movie, yet, the actor manages to squeeze value out of each and every rupee and provide to the viewers an unforgettable experience. Just goes to show about missed opportunities by others in the industry. And speaking about money, where have Rustom box office collections reached? Well, for one, they have dragged Hrithik Roshan's Mohenjo daro through the proverbial mud, for one.

Rustom collections are still doing relatively well even as they go on a gradual downhill journey. It stole the Independence Day spotlight and kept its focussed firmly on itself thereby not allowing any chance for Hrithik Roshan's 2-year project Mohenjo Daro to emerge a winner. Rustom collections by day 6 have risen to Rs 82.28 crore after collecting as much as Rs 6.38 crore on Wednesday – Indian markets alone.

The writing is on the wall that Rustom will not ever turn into a Rs 150 cr movie, leave alone enter the Rs 200 cr club. But for all intents and purposes, the race for the Rs 100 crore club entry is very much there and Akshay Kumar is expected to ace it this weekend. Giving it a helping hand is the fact that today (Thursday) is Rakhi festival day and it is a holiday. If this turns into a double-digit scoring day for Rustom, then the movie will become a Rs 100 cr earner sooner. Since this is a festival day, people will be celebrating a holiday and there is nothing like a trip to the nearest theatre to check out the movies!

Another couple of booster shots that are working for Akshay Kumar is that Hrithik Roshan has laid a very expensive egg and is posing no challenge to Rustom collections. Ideally, they should have gone head to head and the rivalry would have ensured that both movies do well rather than just one. Be that as it may, it has left Akshay standing tall in cinemas. The other factor that Rustom is exploiting to the hilt is the word of mouth boost. There is no doubt that people who have seen the movie have found it entertaining, even thrilling, and have only good words to describe it. This in turn has galvanised others to check it out for themselves. On the whole, Rustom box office collections have added up to Rs 120.82 cr.
