The US Navy ordered a fleet-wide probe after after warship USS John McCain collided with an oil tanker Alnic MC off the coast of Singapore. The latest accident has already prompted a fleet-wide investigation and plans for temporary halts in operations. The collision tore a hole in the warship's waterline, flooding compartments that included a crew sleeping area. On June 17, the John S. McCain's sister ship, the Fitzgerald, almost sank off the coast of Japan after colliding with a Philippine container ship.
The US Navy said significant damage to the John S. McCain's hull caused flooding to berthing, machinery, and communications rooms. USS Fitzgerald <br /><br /> On June 17, the John S. McCain's sister ship, the Fitzgerald, almost sank off the coast of Japan after colliding with a Philippine container ship.
