Just a day before new releases hit theatres, Akshay Kumar's Airlift box office collections on day 14 (Thursday) fell as low as Rs 1.99 crore. This took its total (net) to Rs 112.29 crore while the tally (gross approx.) rose to Rs 160.41 crore. With the foreign take added, the figure rises to Rs 195.63 crore. Friday saw the release of Sunny Deol starrer Ghayal Once Again, which is expected to do well. The other film to release on Friday, Sanam Teri Kasam, is not expected to pose much of a competition.<br>Airlift had managed Rs 2.40 crore on day 13 when the total (net) in India had risen to Rs 110.3 crore and the tally (gross approx.) to 157.57 crore. The foreign take had boosted the total to Rs 192.79 crore.

The Akshay Kumar movie Airlift box office collections on Monday, which was day 11 since release, were logged at Rs 2.53 crore; on Tuesday day 12, it went a little better and logged Rs 2.61 crore in earnings. The patriotic theme has held Airlift aloft and the other thing that is helping it the most is the word of mouth boost, with most people who have seen it having a good word to say about it and even recommending the film as a must-watch. Airlift had also received a big booster shot from reviews which were mostly in favourable ones. That Akshay Kumar kept the movie restricted to what he does best, take the viewers though a thrilling ride to forceful and triumphant ending, also helped – even though the movie does mangle certain facts of the actual evacuation of stranded Indians in Kuwait due to Iraq's invasion and painted the 'unsung hero' as a larger-than-life entity. Still, the film has been appreciated for the gripping storyline and Akshay's performance. This recipe has endeared him to legions of fans who troop dutifully into theaters to watch him. In fact, even though it was in its second week, Airlift gave stiff competition to new releases and held its own against them. Both Saala Khadoos and Mastizaade suffered at the box office because the Akshay Kumar starrer was still such a big draw.
