Even though it is an entry level hatchback, the Renault Kwid has been designed on the lines of an SUV – Kwid hopes to appeal to the masses and get lucky on the looks front. Maruti Alto 800 is a simple looking car which provides the basic requirements of an average Indian buyer. Renault Kwid on the other hand has muscular front looks with big, bold headlamps, an aggressive looking grille and stylish fog lamps. (CarDekho)

Kwid has a high ground clearance and this adds to its advantage looking at the road conditions in India. Fender cladding has turn indicators adding to its mean looks, the side contours in a fluidic design and it continues at the back too. (CarDekho)

Inside, the car, the central console comes with a touchscreen enabled 7 inch MediaNav system, the same is found in the Renault Duster as well as Lodgy and one can make calls through Bluetooth and use maps for navigation. This will add to the USP of the Renault Kwid as there are hardly any players offering such technology in this segment. (CarDekho)

The rear seat in the Renault Kwid can accommodate three adult passengers but that will become a bit tight especially for long drives, hence it is recommended that only four passengers i.e. two in front and two at back sit for a comfortable ride. (CarDekho)

Renault Kwid has the best in the class 300 litre boot space, that means oodles of space for luggage during long journeys. (CarDekho)

Under the hood, Kwid comes with a 799cc engine which has a power output of 54bhp and 74Nm of torque. Renault claims to offer the best in the class fuel efficiency with 25.17kmpl. (CarDekho)

On the safety front, Kwid offers only driver side airbag, but considering the price we should not be complaining much. There is central locking, front disc brakes for all weather conditions and road surface. Apart from that there is high mount stop lamp and audible parking brake warning. (CarDekho)

How much more can one ask for at a price tag that is very close to that of Maruti Alto 800. Kwid comes at a starting price of Rs 2.57 lacs (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and with the loaded features and looks, Maruti needs to tighten its seat belt and gear up for some serious competition. (CarDekho)
