Indian equity markets ended Thursday’s session on a positive note, with all major indices managing to stay in the green. The Sensex closed at 83,012.68, up 0.39, while the Nifty settled at 25,423.60, gaining 0.37. The Nifty Bank also inched higher, finishing the day at 55,727.45, up 0.42.

Top gainers of the day
Several heavyweights from the Sensex pack led the rally. Eternal jumped 3%, while Sun Pharma, Infosys, HDFC Bank, and HCL Tech also featured among the day’s top performers.
Key losers
On the flip side, select stocks dragged the market lower. Bajaj Finance, Tata Motors, Trent, and BEL were among the biggest laggards.
Midday movers
Beyond the frontline indices, several mid- and large-cap names saw sharp moves during the day. LTIMindtree surged nearly 4% on the NSE, emerging as the top gainer among IT stocks. HDFC Life Insurance rose 3% in intraday trade, while LIC Housing Finance also climbed 3%.
On the downside, Page Industries fell more than 2% after global brokerage HSBC downgraded the stock to Reduce with a price target of Rs 41,040.
Top sectors in Thursday trade
Internet & E-Commerce stocks gained 1.13% in today’s trade, while the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sector was up 0.89%. The Cables segment also moved higher with a 0.85% rise, and Edible Fats added 0.75% by the close.
Best and worst business group
Ruchi Group led the pack with a 4.6% rise, followed by Indiabulls Group up 3.68%, Future Group gaining 2.47%, and Manipal Group higher by 2.19%. On the downside, Anil Ambani Groups slipped 1.52%, Somany Group declined 2.8%, Nagarjuna Group fell 3.73%, while Essar Group dropped the most with a 4.79% loss.
