Twitter/X back: The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, that faced a technical glitch at around 11 am on Thursday, is now back again. The website and the mobile app displayed a ‘Welcome to your timeline’ message instead of the usual tweets in users’ feeds, indicating a widespread outage that rendered the platform inaccessible.
According to Downdetector, more than 70,000 reports indicated users’ inability to access the platform. Presently, there is no available information regarding the cause of this issue.
This outage isn’t an isolated incident for X. The platform, owned by Elon Musk, previously experienced downtime in March and July of the same year. Downdetector recorded over 13,000 instances of X being inaccessible in the US and the UK in July. Users encountered a message stating, “Sorry, you are rate limited. Please wait a few moments then try again.”
Similarly, on March 6, the platform faced several hours of downtime. Numerous users reported difficulties accessing links, images, and videos, experiencing disruptions in normal usage. Thousands of individuals were affected, with reports from specific regions indicating slower-than-usual website performance.
More trouble for Elon Musk from Brazil
Meanwhile, in other news, Brazil’s first lady said on Tuesday that she will sue Elon Musk-owned social media platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter.
Brazilian first lady Rosangela ‘Janja’ Lula da Silva’s account was hacked last week after which she had mentioned her intention of suing Elon Musk’s X.
The alleged hacker posted several messages which included insults against the first last and President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The hacker also posted misogynistic slurs after he entered Janja’s account on December 11.
The actual reason for X/Twitter facing technical glitch is however unclear for now.
