Apple has an obsolete list where the company puts those “products [that] are considered obsolete when Apple stopped distributing them for sale more than 7 years ago.” In other words, if a product gets added to this list— it no longer receives updates and even services and repairs from Apple.
The newest addition to the Apple obsolete product list is the Apple Watch Series 1. Notably, Apple halted its production after the release of the Apple Watch Series 4 in Sept 2018.

Apple Watch Series 1 makes its place to Apple’s obsolete list
Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 concurrently. However, the Series 2 was phased out after a year when Series 3 was introduced, while Series 1 remained in the product lineup as a more budget-friendly alternative. Notably, the original Apple Watch and the Apple Watch Series 1 are two different products. And, therefore, the Series 1 took the place of the original Apple Watch in 2016.
In 2016, Apple introduced the Watch Series 1, a smartwatch with a dual-core processor, a heart rate sensor, and a touchscreen Retina display. However, as of September 30, Apple declared all first-generation Apple Watch models, including the extravagant solid-gold Edition priced at $17,000, as “obsolete.” This announcement also encompassed all the initial Apple Watch models launched in 2015.
The Apple Watch Series 1 and 2 received software updates until mid-2020, with the latest compatible software being watchOS 6. When these products eventually reach the “obsolete” status, they will no longer be eligible for official repairs or service from Apple.
