While Samsung Galaxy S9 has been confirmed to launch at MWC 2018 by the company’s mobile head DJ Koh, its rival LG seems to be clearing the decks for the launch of its next flagship, which is touted to be called G7. A new report suggests that LG UK website listed ‘Future LG G7’ next to the column stating that it is expected to support Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology.

LG is preparing itself for the launch of its next flagship device. It has been rumoured to be called G7, however, some reports hinted that LG’s upcoming flagship might ditch the ‘G’ naming convention. As we said, the LG UK website listed that Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0 technology will be featured in a ‘Future LG G7’, which clears the air over the name of the South Korean giant’s next flagship. According to Romanian website Androidu.ro, the chipset that LG is touted to pack in G7 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. However, if LG decides to pull a G6 like last year, the company could go for Snapdragon 835. It is interesting that both the Qualcomm chipsets support Quick Charge 4.0 technology, however, the LG G7 with Snapdragon 845 makes more sense.

It is worth noting that Nubia Z17, which supports Quick Charge 4+, bears a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood. However, according to the details available on Qualcomm’s website, Quick Charge 4+ is supported only on Snapdragon 845 platform. It is just that some devices still support Quick Charge 3.0 and 2.0 but they can easily be powered with the latest Snapdragon 845 SoC. This suggests that LG may or may not decide to mix the Quick Charge technology with the chipset on G7.

Apart from the information that G7 could really be a thing now, no other details about the smartphone are available yet. LG might pick the premium segment hardware for its devices where features like its own FullVision display as well as dual cameras can be expected.
