Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Japan, stressed that cooperation between India and Japan in areas like artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and digital technologies could spark a new wave of technological change.
“Japan is a technology powerhouse, and India is a talent powerhouse. India has taken bold and ambitious initiatives in AI, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotechnology, and space. The combination of Japanese technology and Indian talent can lead the tech revolution of this century,” PM Modi said in Japan.

He pointed out that both countries have significant talent, complementary strengths, and shcratic values, making them natural partners for driving innovation. Modi emphasized that by using their expertise in research, design, and manufacturing, India and Japan can improve their own economies and also play an important role in shaping the global tech ecosystem of the future.

Prime Minister Modi noted that the skilled youth of India and Japan should work closely together to create new opportunities in technology and innovation. He highlighted that the partnership between the two nations is not just strategic but also based on foresight and mutual trust, making it a smart and future-oriented relationship.
PM Modi described the visit as an opportunity to advance India’s national interests and support regional and global peace and security.
“I look forward to engaging with PM Ishiba and others during this visit, thus providing an opportunity to deepen existing partnerships and explore new avenues of collaboration,” PM Modi wrote on X upon arrival in Tokyo.
Beginning his first independent visit to Japan in seven years, PM Modi also met with members of the Indian community who gathered to welcome him in Tokyo.
Tokyo Summit to review key areas of India-Japan partnership
The 15th India, Japan Summit will give Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese leader Shigeru Ishiba a chance to review cooperation in important areas like trade and investment, defense and security, science and technology, infrastructure, mobility, and cultural exchange. The leaders are also expected to look at the progress made in recent years and share their views on urgent regional and global issues.
