iQOO 12 and iQOO 12 Pro with Qualcomm’s brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor have officially been launched in China. The two are mostly alike, in design as well as in core specs. In addition to sharing the same chipset, they also have a similar camera setup. Where they differ is in display and battery capacity. At least one of these phones is all but confirmed to arrive in India on December 12, 2023, under the name of iQOO 12.

The iQOO 12 comes in a choice of 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB memory configurations at a price of CNY 3999 (roughly Rs 45,779), CNY 4299 (~Rs 49,213), and CNY 4699 (~Rs 53,792), respectively.
The iQOO 12 Pro is available with 16GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB for CNY 4999 (~Rs 57,226), CNY 5499 (~Rs 62,948), and CNY 5999 (~Rs 68,671), respectively.

The iQOO 12 series phones have a glass and metal design available in a choice of white (BMW Motorsport), black, and red with varying degree of finishes. The iQOO 12 Pro has a curved back and front while the iQOO 12 is completely flat. The pro model gets IP68 water and dust resistance while the regular does not have any IP rating.

Both phones have a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with fast 144Hz refresh rate. The iQOO 12 Pro has 1440p resolution and 1440Hz PWM dimming. It can also go up to 1600nits when outdoors. The iQOO 12 drops the resolution down to 1.5K (2800x1260p) and has 2160Hz PWM dimming. It tops out at 1400nits in sunny outdoors. Both panels can otherwise peak 3000nits when playing HDR content (up to HDR10+ is supported).
Under the hood, you get a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB of UFS4.0 storage. Running the show is Vivo’s Origin OS 4.0 based on Android 14. Global variants are expected to come with Funtouch OS 14. Powering the iQOO 12 Pro is a 5,100mAh battery with fast 120W wired and 50W wireless charging support. The iQOO 12 on the other hand has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging (no wireless).
Coming to cameras, both phones have the same setup on paper. A trio of 50-megapixel, 50-megapixel, and 64-megapixel sensors sit behind a 23mm wide (with optical image stabilisation), 150-dgree ultrawide, and 70mm periscope-style telephoto (for 3x optical and up to 100x digital zoom). Both phones have 16-megapixel selfie camera.
