Google has officially opened its fourth campus in India, named Ananta, located in Bengaluru. – one of the world’s fastest-growing tech hubs. Ananta is a Sanskrit word meaning “infinite” or “limitless”. According to Google, the development of Ananta represents an important step toward fulfilling the company’s mission of building products tailored not only for India but also for the global market.

The new office campus is built out of a collaboration between Google India and local design teams. Google claims Ananta to be one of the company’s most ambitious ground-up developments. Its architectural design includes a sculpted, fluid facade and one of India’s largest electrochromic glass installations. Each floor is divided into interconnected “neighborhoods,” similar to a city-grid. It is designed to encourage spontaneous collaboration while still providing quiet spaces for individual focus. At the heart of the building is the “Sabha,” a large gathering space intended to host community events, informal collaborations, and town hall meetings.

Google claims that the campus has been thoughtfully designed to be accessible to all, incorporating features like tactile flooring to assist the visually impaired, as well as detailed braille signage and accessible amenities throughout.

The Ananta campus includes a large garden with extensive landscaping, walking paths, and jogging trails. Google has incorporated nature-inspired elements in the campus design. Keeping sustainability in view, the campus features a water recycling system that processes 100% of its wastewater, and rainwater harvesting systems are in place to ensure sustainable water use. Ananta also employs smart glass technology to reduce energy consumption.
