Have you updated your Chrome to the latest version – Chrome 64? If not, do it right away. Google has introduced the latest version of Chrome that allows users to permanently mute websites with annoying autoplay videos and offers many more benefits. The new version Chrome 64.0.3282 has also brought in with it a number of fixes and improvements. The update is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The update includes 53 security fixes. The new update lets you permanently mute websites that auto-play videos. To mute the site that automatically plays videos, users have to click the ‘View site information’ symbol on the left-hand edge of the omnibar or the address bar combined with the Google search box, as reported by IANS.
The new update is the replacement of the previous ‘mute tab’ feature that was temporary. You must have noticed many websites auto-playing videos in the background. The sound and the music can be annoying. So, once you have updated your Chrome to Chrome 64, you can simply right-click on the tab where the video is playing and select the ‘Mute’ option. This way you can mute any website you want to. In the update, for Window users, the search engine giant has also added High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging support to Chrome 64. This feature will only be active on a system with Fall Creators Update, an HDR-compatible monitor, and graphics card.
Jon Krafcik, Group Product Manager, Data Privacy, and Transparency at Google, wrote in a blog post, “Today, we’re rolling out the ability to mute the reminder ads in apps and on websites that partner with us to show ads,” as reported by IANS. He further stated that Reminder ads can be useful, but if you aren’t shopping for Snow Boot Co.’s boots anymore, then you don’t need a reminder about them. A new control within ‘Ads Settings’ will enable you to mute Snow Boot Co.’s reminder ads. The new update also protects Mac and Windows device users against the “Meltdown” and “Spectre” processor vulnerabilities. In December Chrome had released Chrome 63 update, that brought in features like Flags redesign, Quick site certification, and others.
