Anand Mahindra is quite active on social media, especially X (formerly, Twitter). In the latest, he is proud to use an iPhone 15 manufactured in India and said soon he will also switch to made-in-India Pixel phone. He adds that by the time he switches, he hopes that India will become a manufacturing powerhouse.
Anand Mahindra wrote in a post on X that he recently visited a Verizon store in the US to get a local SIM card and told the Apple staff that his iPhone 15 is made in India.

He writes on X, “I recently was in a Verizon store in the U.S. to get a local sim and proudly informed the salesperson that my iPhone 15 was made in India. It was a particular pleasure to see his raised eyebrows! I also have a Google Pixel.”
“I will switch to the India-made version when it’s out. So I’ll be able to tell them my Pixel is made in India too… But there probably won’t be any raised eyebrows at that time because by then. India will have been globally acknowledged as a manufacturing powerhouse…,” he added.

Google on Thursday hosted its annual Google for India event in Delhi NCR where it revealed a set of fresh plans for the country, AI-powered launched, and other investments. The highlight of the event was Google’s plans to manufacture Pixel phones in India with a rollout scheduled for next year. This comes after its rival Apple announced the manufacturing of iPhones in 2017 with the iPhone SE.
MeitY Ashwini Vaishnaw commented, “Google’s announcement to make Pixel smartphones in India is a big achievement of the government’s made-in-India policy.”
