The Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week: Eco-friendly biodegradable fabric is the new Black

The change of weather also calls for a change in the wardrobe. Hence, no better time than now for The Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week (LMIFW). LMIFW’s Autumn-Winter 2019 is a four-day event that opened on 13th March, Wednesday and will continue till Sunday. The fashion extravaganza witnessed autumn and winter collections from well-known designers like Rina Dhaka, Samant Chauhan, Shalini James, Sahil Kochhar, Rahul Mishra and Suket Dhir.

The Autumn-Winter 2019 edition is here with a plethora of standout pieces showcasing eco-friendly and sustainable collections.’Liva Eco Green Heart Show’, the opening show had models walking the ramp in biodegradable fabrics. Biodegradable fabrics ranging from flowy garments to suits, jackets and saris. There were also a variety of embroideries with delicate floral motifs and stripes in intelligent separates.

Models glided down the LMIFW Autumn-Winter edition’s ramp flaunting sweat-dresses, sweatshirts, and sneakers, looking glamorous. It was amidst a set-up with trees and the chirping sound of birds in the backdrop. The event showcased a range of sweat-dresses, sweat pants, sweatshirts, knife-pleated skirt, boots, sneakers and knickers.

Kerala-based designer Shalini James’s collection had models in green printed saris, depicting six yards of sustainability. Colours ranging from pastel pink, pristine ivory and deep blue dominated Sahil Kochhar’s collection ‘Hridya’. The essence of this environment-friendly fabrics in a gamut of colours was nature-friendly streetwear. The show was also followed by ‘The Miracle Show’ showcasing Prashant Verma’s collection.

Designer Rahul Mishra showcased a line called ‘Memory’. Not only was it retrospective but also draws on his metamorphosis and reinvention. Designer Suket Dhir showcased a delightful line called ‘Play’, in the form of quirky prints it also had a hint of childish playfulness.

Organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), the country’s apex fashion body, The Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week is being held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
