Seven poetry books were released at the two-day Mumbai Poetry Festival, which began at Tata Institute of Social Sciences on Saturday. The festival is organised by Poetrywala of renowned Marathi writer Hemant Divate. Award-winning poets, including Adil Jussawalla, Jayanta Mahapatra, Keki Daruwalla, K Satchidanandan, Ranjit Hoskote, Mangalesh Dabral and Eunice de Souza, besides many established and upcoming poets, are participating in the event. One of the themes of the festival is ‘Readings for Peace’, where social scientist Ashwani Kumar’s book, Banaras and the Other, was released. The keynote address was delivered by Salil Tripathi, chair of PEN International’s Writers in Prison committee.
The other six poetry books published by Paperwall and released at the fest include Adil Jussawalla’s Gulestan, Rati Saxena’s Scripted in the Streams, Ashraf Aboul-Yazid’s The Memory of Silence, Anand Thakore’s Seven Deaths and Four Scrolls, Medha Singh’s Ecdysis and Arjun Rajendran’s The Cosmonaut in Hergé’s Rocket.
