Bollywood actor Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot with her longtime partner, Zaheer Iqbal, in June 2024. Earlier this year, the Dabangg actress signed a Rs 22.5 crore deal and sold her Banda luxury apartment. She revealed in August 2024, that she had always to build her own home, taking inspiration from her father, veteran Bollywood actor and politician, Shatrughan Sinha. He used to fondly describe the experience to her of buying his first house.
Sharing on her lively YouTube channel, Sinha took to social media and gave her fans some insight into her ‘incomplete home’. The young couple revealed that their “new house was 9 months old.” They shared that the finishing touches are remaining, the furniture is being set up, and they are going to be moving in soon.
The mammoth task was managed by Payal Makwana, who gave some insight into the whole process. In the spotlight were the couple and their vision of their dream home. “I have always wanted a beach house,” shared Sonakshi Sinha, which was the complete opposite of Zaheer’s taste. Makwana explained how she blended their choices and shared, “This house is like yin and yang. And I think it’s a perfect balance of male, female – Shiva and Shakti.”
Zaheer’s dream home
One of the first things the actor revealed was his attention to detail to the wash basin. He had a particular requirement for how the water would flow. Coming to other things he said that he wanted sturdy furniture, “the whole vibe that you can stand and dance on anything in the house. That was my brief. That everything has to be sturdy.”
Towards the end, the actor-entrepreneur, Sonakshi Sinha, revealed that her husband even wanted a “flashy red bike” in the middle of his living room. Wanting to live out almost every boy’s childhood dream, they came to a middle ground and decided to place the sports bike in their foyer.
Sonakshi Sinha’s ‘conversation pit’ and more
One of the most unique features of Sonakshi and Zaheer’s sea-facing home was a conversation pit. Mimicking the scenery of the place where the couple got married, Sinha insisted on placing a “conversation pit” on the balcony. Facing the sea and overlooking the city of Mumbai, Sinha remarked, “You spend hours here and you don’t even realise. It’s nice to have something.”
Creating the beach house
Since Sinha had the vision of a beach house, their designer wanted to keep the idea intact. Explaining the aesthetic behind her house, Makwana shared that it wasn’t just an “interior design home,” it’s an “architectural interior design home.”
“We’ve taken the outside, inside, merged every room into each other with the different elements that are bringing the whole house theme together,” she added. Describing the confluence of the partners’ personality, she revealed that to capture Sonakshi’s essence, “You’ll see every door, every window has the shape of the arch…there are no harsh edges.”
Speaking about Zaheer, she revealed, “I think it’s flamboyant, it’s sharp and just like him, very witty. Now, what you’ll see later is a lot of colour that is going to come in. Which is again his personality.”
