The rise of Cello World, renowned for its diverse range of kitchenware products, has catapulted its Chairman and Managing Director, Pradeep Rathod, into the esteemed ranks of India’s billionaire club. Following the triumphant Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Cello World, Pradeep Rathod, who holds a substantial 44% stake in the company, now commands a net worth exceeding $1 billion (approximately Rs 8,317 crore), as reported by Forbes.
In addition to its flagship kitchenware line, Cello World has expanded its footprint into various sectors, including pens, stationery items, and moulded furniture, contributing 18% to the company’s revenue.
According to Forbes, the overwhelming response to the IPO saw the company’s shares oversubscribed 39 times, listing at a premium of 28% over their IPO price of 648. Deepak Jasani, Head of Retail Research at HDFC Securities, attributed this success to improved market sentiments towards midcap stocks and impeccable timing, coinciding with the festive season when consumer houseware sales peak.
Established in 1967 by Ghisulal Rathod, initially producing PVC footwear and bangles, Cello World transformed in the late ’80s when Ghisulal Rathod’s visit to the US-inspired the production of Cello casseroles. Under Pradeep Rathod’s leadership, the company expanded its portfolio to encompass a diverse range of kitchenware products and ventured into the glassware and opal ware market in 2017.
