Ajay Devgn’s latest film ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ has shown modest performance at the box office so far, earning a total of Rs 9.75 crore in its first two days. The film hit the theatres on Friday (August 1) and features Mrunal Thakur, Ravi Kishan and Deepak Dobriyal, among others.

Son of Sardaar 2 Box Office Collection

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ collected Rs 7.25 crore on its opening Friday. However, the film is experiencing a slight dip on its second day, Saturday, and has earned Rs 2.5 crore by 4 PM, according to Sacnilk. The sequel has notably underperformed compared to Devgn’s previous 2025 release ‘Raid 2’ which had a much stronger opening.

The film’s performance also falls short of Devgn’s horror release ‘Shaitaan’, that came earlier this year and opened with Rs 14.75 crore. However ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ managed to outperform Kajol’s ‘Maa’ which  opened with of Rs 4.5 crore, and Shazia Iqbal’s ‘Dhadak 2’ which collected Rs 3.35 crore on its first day.

‘Son of Sardaar 2’ is currently competing with Mohit Suri’s romantic drama ‘Saiyaara’ which has crossed Rs 285.75 crore in its second week. Interestingly, ‘Son of Sardaar 2’ was delayed by a week to avoid clashing with ‘Saiyaara’. However, it appears to have had limited impact on its overall performance.

Occupancy rate on Day 2

On Saturday, the film registered an overall Hindi occupancy of 15.51%, as per Sacnilk. While afternoon shows saw a respectable rise to 22.96% occupancy from 8.05% in the morning, the evening and night shows showed zero percent occupancy, indicating a sharp decline in audience interest as the day progressed. The film will now rely heavily on positive word-of-mouth and a strong Sunday performance to recover some ground in its opening weekend.
