K-pop “controversies” often invite a rift in the timeline, and so have the years-long dating rumours embroiling BTS’ Jimin. South Korean actress Song Da Eun‘s now-deleted recent video leak seemingly shed light on the private aspects of her life she shares with her alleged boyfriend. Although there are no official confirmations about the purported romantic ties between the two, some fans have already accepted the viral clip as enough proof of the connection between the two.

However, not everyone has been rooting for the said relationship, as a major faction of the BTS ARMY fanbase believes Song Da Eun is lying. Having shot to considerable fame with her appearance in Heart Signal 2, the Korean actress is said to have initially kept Jimin’s name out of her conversations. According to the online forum Pannchoa, which translates articles and posts pertaining to Korean entertainment, fans have often dug through her regular social media posts, hoping to find traces of the K-pop idol she was allegedly romantically linked with.

Is Song Da Eun’s career dead?

As is evident, Song Da Eun’s name spiralled into controversial circles even before her acting career could take off properly. After debuting in 2011 through MBC Drama’s Can’t Live with Losing, she relatively found firm ground in the industry, landing a role in the Channel A dating reality show Heart Signal Season 2 in 2018.

Her initial K-drama credits included KBS 2TV’s Once Again (2020) and tvN’s Mother (2020). According to her artist profile on AsianWiki, Song also had brief roles in prominent dramas like MBC’s The Golden Spoon and JTBC’s More Than Friends. IMDb even credits her for having had a role in Park Chan Wook-directed The Handmaiden.

K-media reports now suggest that she’s considered more a “troublemaker” than “an actress.” With the public backlash against her at an all-time high given her recent TikTok share featuring Jimin, BTS ARMYs are unhappy with how she has single-handedly reignited dating rumours without the BTS member’s “consent.” Regardless of where the story is headed, it remains undeniable that Da Eun continues to make headlines only in association with the K-pop idol.

After being last seen on The Golden Spoon (starring Yook Sung Jae) in 2022, Song Da Eun’s official activities have completely appeared to have gone off air. Her absence and erasure from the K-drama world is inevitably attributed to her alleged romantic links with Jimin, which first emerged that same year. In addition to being supposed lovebirds, speculative developments suggested that they’ve long been living together as well.

In light of her being the centre of a bombshell controversy, BTS fans have repeatedly called her out on social media, urging her to stop spewing even bigger “lies” related to Jimin. As is often the case, mere dating rumours have long impacted rising stars in the K-entertainment industry, with companies and production banners entirely washing their hands off any connection with those in such infamous headlines. Avoiding any further risks of being associated with someone branded as a “troublemaker,” companies choose to rather stick with those who have a cleaner public image.

As a result, even the advertising world has steered clear of Song Da Eun, who is already accused of being untrustworthy by BTS ARMYs, a massive fanbase unlike any other. Song doesn’t even have an official management agency backing her at the moment contrary to previous claims of her new exclusive contract with the company Merry Go Round.

K-media outlet Sports.Khan.co.kr further quoted a broadcasting industry insider, saying it’s a well-known fact that BTS fans targeted shows featuring the actress. Nonetheless, it wasn’t anything out of the ordinary that no production company was willing to risk their credibility and public standing by hiring someone like her.

BTS fans got Jimin’s alleged girlfriend Song Da Eun fired?

Moreover, a post on X alluding to a Pannchoa article went viral this week. The story put the spotlight on screenshots of alleged web chats between a BTS fan and a cafe that had employed Song after she was cut off from the entertainment industry.

Reaching out to an SNS account associated with the cafe, ARMYs reportedly flooded their chat box with questions about Da Eun, calling for her to be fired. Although someone initially mistook her as the cafe owner, the account seemingly confirmed via a text message that she was only a part-timer. As the word presumably reached her, Song is believed to have quit the job on her own accord to avoid any further complications.

In 2019, the Heart Signal 2 star was also romantically linked to rapper Gray. However, his agency AOMG eventually shut down such reports, saying, “The dating rumors with Song Da Eun are not true.” That same year, Song’s then-agency lanent also dismissed speculation that she possibly had ties to the Burning Sun scandal.

The label ultimately spoke out that the allegations were all attributed to a misinterpretation of her friendship with the controversial singer Seungri. Slamming the “groundless rumour,” lanent said, “Again, regarding the Burning Sun issue, Song Da Eun is not related at all.”

Why is Song Da Eun in the news again?

The post indicates that regardless of whether Song posted things hinting at Jimin’s alleged relationship with her or not, fans continued flooding her comments.

Nonetheless, she recently grabbed the K-pop world’s attention by sharing a TikTok video, wherein she catches Jimin off-guard as he’s seen coming out an elevator. Song reportedly filmed the clip at Nine One Hannam, and extremely luxurious residential complex in Hannah-dong, Seoul, where the BTS singer lives.

“Woah, you scared me. Did you know I was coming? I came without telling you on purpose,” the BTS member is heard talking to her thereafter.

Some fans have long accused Da Eun of being mentally unstable over the one-sided dating rumours. However, in 2023, she claimed that she had enough proof to back her claims that she was dating a male “idol,” and other people could also confirm her sanity. At one point over the years, Song got tired of the backlash to the extent that she went as far as saying that neither BTS’ fandom scared her, nor was she frightened of a potential lawsuit against herself.

On the contrary, Song eventually opened up about how hateful comments against her family had affected her. “Just because the idol you like loves me doesn’t mean I deserve to be criticised. I didn’t make the first move either,” she said earlier this year, as per iMBC.
