About Ba***ds of Bollywood
The Ba***ds of Bollywood marked Aryan Khan’s directorial debut on Netflix. Starring the actor of ‘Kill’ and winner of the Filmfare Award for his debut, Lakshay Lalwani, played the lead role of Aasman Singh. Exploring the themes of nepotism and stardom, it explores the hidden fictitious secrets of Bollywood through humorous storytelling and sometimes, slapstick comedy.
Working with newcomers, Sahher Bambba and Raghav Juyal, this series also stars other veteran actors like Bobby Deol in key roles. However, Aryan Khan is not new to controversy; he does not fail to deliver an entertainer. Following its release, the OTT series was under fire due to several seemingly objectionable scenes. In the last episode of The Ba***ds of Bollywood, actor Ranbir Kapoor, playing himself, was seen using a vape on camera. Condemned for the promotion of such substances among the youth, this was one of the first legal troubles, the series encountered.
However, a larger blow came when former NCB director, Sameer Wankhede, brought Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix, Google, Meta, XCorp., and John Doe to court over a scene that was eerily similar to Aryan Khan’s arrest in 2021. Fans were intrigued, and speculations rose, after the Delhi High Court sent a summons to the defendants. Earlier, Wankhede had sought financial remuneration for the maligning of his reputation from the makers of the series.
