Superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Alia Bhatt in Dear Zindagi movie? The news has almost been confirmed by none other than the youngest actress that SRK may well be romancing (on screen) and this revelation has been backed up by a number of posts by King Khan himself. So, aside from the conversation, also check Dear Zindagi first look here:
However, to be fair, it is still not confirmed whether SRK will actually be romancing Alia or be playing a sort of a guru’s role, a guiding light, so to speak. Alia, in Dear Zindagi, is reportedly a filmmaker, a thinking one, they would have us believe, and sensitive to boot. The project she has picked up is a a serious one that spans both the reel and the real world for the character in the movie.

So, now we know there will be a movie called Dear Zindagi and the plotline looks to be more or less obvious. A young girl out to find herself, lost in a confusing kaleidoscope of emotions, worrying about what is right and wrong and whether she should follow her heart or not and with a job to finish. A woeful waif caught in a time warp of her own making.

The reading may be right, or wrong, but this is what you get from trying to follow the irreverent (irrelevant?) conversations of Bollywood stars and wannabes who are out to plug into a wider fandom to drive a wider interest in their latest projects.

Can’t blame them, a lot of money, reputations and more is at stake for individuals and the industry at large too.

So, the question is, is Alia Bhatt the right person to play this role or has she trapped herself in an image that is restricted to a happy teenager? Considering that she has already had an eventful and versatile run in Bollywood, she is expected to ace the part – fingers crossed and all things being equal.

What started us off on this train of thought was Alia Bhatt taking to Prisma, which changes your photos into artworks as per the style that you choose (you can choose famous artists’ styles) and sharing her painting-type photo alongside Shah Rukh Khan with an enigmatic caption: “Dear Zindagi, Is it ok not to be ok? Alia.”

Shah Rukh Khan responds to this question that must have been asked by hundreds of millions of teenagers going through their transformative years. Here is what he posted in return: “Dear Alia, See the Sun is up. The sky is kinda blue. Sort of beautiful. So it’s ok if you are not ok. As long as you take care of one person..And that one person is you. SRK.” Kind of forced. No?
@aliaa08 questions @iamsrk answers and @gauris visualises….poster out soon…film releases on the 25th of November 2016…#DearZindagi

Dear Zindagi is being jointly produced by Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Director Gauri Shinde has said that the film would not be a “typical love story” and going by the above dialogue, it most certainly does not feel like one either.

However, the conversation did not end there. Shah Rukh Khan kept on revealing more and more as minutes ticked by.

Of course, we left the toughest part to the last. Is there a hint here that Shah Rukh Khan is moving (gasp!) to playing more mature roles! His last outing with Dilwale did not exactly promote his image as a young man, in fact far from it.
All said and done, this series of tweets may have induced some interest in fans to find out a bit of what their icons are up to – that of course, was the intent. For the rest, wait till the movie releases and find out how things panned out.
