Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked early Thursday morning at his Bandra residence during a failed burglary attempt. Despite being stabbed multiple times, Khan displayed remarkable bravery, walking into Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital “like a lion,” drenched in blood and accompanied only by his young son, Taimur Ali Khan.

According to Dr. Niraj Uttamani, the Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, Khan arrived at the hospital at around 3 a.m. after suffering six stab wounds to his arms, neck, and near his spine. “I was the first one to meet Saif Ali Khan when he came to the hospital. He was drenched in blood but walked in like a lion with only his small child, Taimur. He is a real hero,” Dr. Uttamani told news agency ANI.

The 54-year-old actor had a knife lodged in his back, and he was quickly rushed to surgery. Doctors successfully removed a 2.5-inch piece of knife blade close to his spine, repairing the spinal fluid. Despite the severity of the injuries, the actor’s condition has improved, and he is now out of danger and no longer in the ICU.

Dr. Uttamani praised Khan’s courage, noting that while heroes in films perform stunts, Khan’s real-life heroism was evident during this terrifying attack. “In films, people do ‘herogiri,’ but during an attack like this at home, he has acted like a hero and has come out of it,” the doctor added.

The attack occurred around 2:00 a.m. when an intruder broke into Khan’s residence on the 12th floor of his Bandra West apartment. The actor fought back valiantly before seeking medical help.

At present, Khan’s health is stable, and his recovery is underway. The incident has left many in the Bollywood industry and beyond in shock, but Saif Ali Khan’s bravery in the face of danger has been widely commended.
