Great Grand Masti review: The movie is in theatres and may the review wars begin! Well, one thing is quite clear from the start itself – everyone is taking turns to blast the movie, except for a few die-hard fans who find any kind of sexual innuendo dialogue as humorous and under-dressed buxom women walking around as eye candy and therefore, quite acceptable as far as making money is concerned. Riteish Deshmukh, Aftab Shivdasani, Vivek Oberoi, Urvashi Rautela go through the grind and do their best to lure the audience into the theatre seats in large enough numbers to make for a successful box office collections turnout – after all the Masti movies have been a hit previously and they were mostly based on this very formula – you could of course quibble over the content.

But that is not what we are talking about. Every movie that gets made has one goal: score at the B.O. and whether that comes from romance, action, tragedy or yes, scoring with the opposite sex, is immaterial. So, will all the negative reviews kill the movie or will Great Grand Masti still manage to raise filmmakers’ hopes of managing to make its box office collections a success? Check out what the critics think about the movie and what the audience is doing and see if you can predict whether Great Grand Masti movie-makers will laugh all the way to the bank:

Great Grand Masti review by Rohit Vats, Hidustan Times; Rating: 0/5: The movie has the reviewer up in arms at having had to sit through this film. He bears it great ill-will and castigates it for stamping it into his memory cells on a permanent basis. In his words, “Great Grand Masti has achieved what thousands of bad films couldn’t. It’s that one film you will remember for the rest of your life. It’s a master-class in bad filmmaking, and a misuse of freedom of expression.” The present version of the movie is so bad that the reviewer finds a few good words to say about the previous one, Masti (2003) and Grand Masti (2013). His conclusion: “It’s a death trap, and you have to pay for your sins.”

Great Grand Masti review by Mohar Basu, ToI; Rating: 3.0/5: This reviewer is not impressed with the fare on offer either, but he hedges his bets on the quality of the content. Says people are familiar with the franchise template – sex starved friends out to get laid. There are women aplenty with postage stamp clothes barely covering their nether regions. Well, the reviewer believes the crowds know what they want and they are out to get it it in dollops. In his words, “The Masti franchise has made the audience familiar with its template. How the monotony of marriage makes three buddies seek for some harmless fun, has proven to make for a few good laughs and a lot of moolah. Even in its third stint, the naughty popcorn entertainer offers ample chuckles sticking to the raunchy premise.” He believes bromance and beauties go together and make for one hilarious ending. Conclusion: The actors manage to ‘pull off the goofy gags effortlessly’.

Great Grand Masti’ review by Bryan Durham, dna, Rating: *1/2: The reviewer is astounded at the fact that anyone could even think of making such a movie let alone someone actually spending good money on making it and others going ahead and actually making it. But then, he believes those who yearn for it, will definitely go and watch it. In his words, “Strictly recommended viewing for people who want to get sledgehammered with silliness. Or just hammered by ham.: His conclusion: “You know you want it!”

Great Grand Masti movie review by Tatsam Mukherjee; Rating: 0.5/5: The reviewer hits out at the filmmakers for believing that this is what the audience wants. Sexually deprived men, under-dressed women, rape jokes, penis talk, rehashing of the old Masti plot, are hardly what the audience craves and the filmmakers should have realised the danger of making such a movie that may bomb at the B.O. In the reviewer’s words, “It seems highly ridiculous that the producers think this is what the audience want. That this will make money, and it just might.” Conclusion: “It also makes one sad for the audience, who are taken for granted.”

So, the experts have spoken and all of them are more or less united in their criticism of the movie, but whether it is going to turn into a box office collections success is still left as a big question mark.
