Kaabil box office collections day 9: Kaabil won’t be remember for its plot, performances or even it’s leads Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam, but rather for its competition with Raees. Hrithik Roshan has maintained a respectable pace at the box office and the film pulled in another Rs 5.25 crore on Thursday (day 9), according to a report in Bollywood Hungama. With Rs 90.55 crore in total, Kaabil will definitely pick up Rs 100 crore by the weekend. The film has managed to do good business even on weekdays, so its earnings should increase in the next two days.

Despite Kaabil’s decent performance at the box office, it still has not been able to catch up with Shahrukh Khan’s Raees. Even though Raees’ earnings dipped to Rs 6.25 crore on Thursday, it has managed to keep its Rs 10 crore head-start that it got on the first day. In fact, the gap between the two movies is now around Rs 20 crore. While Kaabil may have done nothing much for Hrithik’s career, the publicity of the film has helped put Yami Gautam on major directors’ radar. In fact, the actress has been recruited by Ram Gopal Varma for Sarkar 3 where she will reportedly play a negative character.

Kaabil has been the perfect vehicle for Yami to enter the mainstream media’s attention. By starring next to a Bollywood big shot (at least for now) and being at least partially pitted against King Khan, Yami had nothing to lose and everything to gain from her Kaabil stint. For Hrithik Roshan, the consequences are a little more dire. Bollywood is tricky territory when you have a string of ‘meh’ films and regardless of looks, money and connections, it’s hard to bounce back from that.
