Following a series of production delays, the highly anticipated action-thriller Dacoit finally hit the silver screen on April 10. Starring Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, the film has managed to hold its ground at the box office, maintaining steady momentum through its first weekend.

Dacoit domestic Box Office Collection Day 2

According to the latest industry tracking data from Sacnilk, Dacoit earned Rs 6.60 crore on its second day of release. This follows a solid opening day haul of Rs 7.00 crore, bringing the film’s total domestic collection to Rs 13.55 crore. While the figures show a minor dip from Friday, maintaining a collection above the Rs 6 crore mark is a positive sign for the debutant director Shaneil Deo.

However, the film is currently facing stiff competition from the box office juggernaut Dhurandhar 2, which earned significantly more even in its fourth week.

‘True blockbuster with all heart’

Despite the box office competition, the film has found a vocal supporter in Telugu star Nani. Taking to his X account, the actor hailed the film as a ‘true blockbuster with all heart.’ He specifically lauded Adivi Sesh’s performance, calling it his best work to date, and praised Mrunal Thakur for her immersive portrayal. The film, which follows an angry convict seeking vengeance against an ex-girlfriend, also features a powerhouse supporting cast including Anurag Kashyap and Prakash Raj.

Dacoit: Story, cast and more

Produced by Supriya Yarlagadda and Annapurna Studios, Dacoit is a dark tale of revenge. The story follows a convict (Sesh) hunting down the ex-girlfriend (Thakur) who betrayed him. The film features a strong supporting cast, including Anurag Kashyap and Prakash Raj. All eyes are now on the ‘Monday test’ to see if its star power can keep the momentum going at the box office.

Dacoit was originally scheduled for a mid-March release but was pushed back to avoid a direct collision with Dhurandhar: The Revenge. Leading man Adivi Sesh previously admitted that certain films are a ‘phenomenon’ and that it made little sense to compete directly with such massive releases. As the film enters the crucial Sunday window, trade analysts are watching to see if positive word-of-mouth will propel the movie toward a healthy lifetime total.
