Thamma release date: Maddock Films’ newest entrant to its horror-comedy universe, Thamma, is set to release on October 21. This festive release stands as the only Bollywood movie coming out this Diwali 2025. However, the Internet already has mixed reactions to the trailer. Speaking at a sneak-peak event in Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, yesterday, the Thamma team lit up the stage with their anecdotes, weird acting tips, and more.

Standing unparalleled ahead of a no-Khan Diwali, Ayushmann Khurana is set to shine in Thamma, Dinesh Vijan’s newest horror comedy. Currently on their press tour, the Thamma hero expressed that this was his first time doing such a role. Facing a lot of hardships in the film, from getting beaten by bears or being chased by a mob, Khurrana has had to shoot lots of action sequences. Commenting on this, he humorously told reporters, “Dinesh Vijan ne pata nhi kyu aise socha ki ‘Chalo isse peetate hai'[I don’t know why Dinesh Vijan thought, ‘let’s beat him up’]”

‘I’ve never done so much action before’

Comedian Biswa, hosting the event, posed the question to Khurrana. He asked, “You play a Delhi boy, a journalist, and also Betaal – so which one is tougher to do?” Replying to this, the Thamma actor related to journalistic sentiment among the audience, but he felt that he had to prepare rigorously for the role. “Preparing for Betaal was really difficult for me,” Khurrana added. “Because I have never done so much action before,” he continued.

From the trailer, Khurrana’s character, Alok Goyal, faces a lot of hardships. From being thrown around in the jungles of Ooty to jumping off cliffs, he remarked, “Bahut maar khaayi hai iss picture ke andar [I’ve been beat up a lot in this film]”. The actor then added, “Dinesh Vijan ne pata nhi kyu aise socha ki ‘Chalo isse peetate hain'[I don’t know why Dinesh Vijan thought, ‘let’s beat him up’]”

Ayushmann’s on sharing screen space with Nawazuddin Siddique

Nawazuddin Siddique’s role of an Indian vampire is not the first eccentric character he has played. From playing a serial killer in the Raman Raghav franchise to playing Ganesh Gaitonde in Netflix‘s Sacred Games, Siddique is one of the most hard-core villains Bollywood has seen.

Thamma hero Ayushmann Khurrana also shares significant screen time with Nawazuddin Siddique. Sharing an anecdote from the shooting days, Khurrana revealed that Siddique’s screams were so loud that he actually felt he had gone deaf. He felt that truly was a difficult scene to shoot, inside a dark cave.
