BAFTA Awards 2024: “Oppenheimer” dominated the BAFTAs and secured victories for director Christopher Nolan, lead actor Cillian Murphy, and Best Film. The film clinched a total of seven BAFTA awards.
“Poor Things” was the other winner that stood out with five wins including Emma Stone’s award for lead actress.
During his acceptance speech at the BAFTAs, Nolan, winning his inaugural award, expressed gratitude towards studio Universal, acknowledging their support in embracing the darker themes of the film and recognizing its potential.
Presenters at the event included David Beckham, who presented the golden mask for Outstanding British Debut, Dua Lipa, who bestowed the award for Outstanding British Film, and Deepika Padukone, who presented the award for Film Not In The English Language.
Following the BAFTAs, the Screen Actors Guild Awards, set to air on Netflix on February 24, stand as the sole remaining major awards event before the Oscars on March 10.
The BAFTA ceremony was not broadcast live. Instead, it was televised on BBC One in the UK and can be streamed on BBC iPlayer and BritBox.
