JEE Main rank 2016 list has been released on June 23 in the evening on the official website josaa.nic.in and jeemain.nic.in. Candidates can also go to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cbse.nic.in or cbseresults.nic.in and Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) jeemain.nic.in. Delhi boy Deepanshu Jindal has topped the JEE Main rank list 2016 released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today, with boys dominating the list of toppers. Pratyush Maini secured the second position and Rajesh Bansal the third.

Of the top 1,000 positions, 853 have been secured by boys and 147 by girls. Ryali Gayathri from Telangana has emerged on the top among girls, securing the 11th rank.

Meanwhile, in another significant move for admission to the IITs – for which scores in IIT (Advanced) exam is the basis, the first list of allocation of seats for IITs will be released on July 1.

Among boards, CBSE students have done well, getting 12 of the top 20 ranks. States boards like Telangana (6 of the top 20 positions), Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra too find students among toppers.

Around 11.28 lakh students had appeared for the JEE Main exam, officials said, adding results were announced a week in advance as compared to last year.

The All India Rankings are based on their JEE Main score (60 per cent weightage) and Class 12 scores (40 per cent weightage). Admissions to BE and B Tech courses in engineering institutions like NITs, IIITs are made on the basis of these rankings.

The Joint Entrance Exam Main 2016 rank list is for the  Paper I and Paper II offline examinations, which were conducted on April 3 – as many as 12 lakh students appeared for this mode. The JEE Main rank list also spans Paper I online examination which was held on April 9 and April 10.

JEE Main rank list is crucial as it provides the All India Rank (AIR) of the candidates based on the JEE Main score having a weightage of 60 per cent and also to Class 12 scores, which itslef has a 40 per cent weightage.

Of course, this process itself decides admission to B.E./B Tech courses in engineering institutions that also included NITs, IIITs and even GFTIs. On offer are 24,000 undergraduate engineering seats.

STEP 1. Keep your official JEE number handy
STEP 2. Log on to the official website, which is josaa.nic.in
STEP 3. ‘JEE Main rank list’ will be displayed on website; click on it
STEP 4. Type in your Roll No. and enter your date of birth
STEP 5. Check the result and download or even take a printout
