Shivam Dutta, CEO and co-founder of AlmaBetter shares his views on opportunities and challenges of the education system in India with FE Education Online.
What is the best thing about today’s education system?
In my opinion, the best aspect of today’s education system is its increasing adaptability to diverse learning styles, fostering a more inclusive and personalised approach to education.
What is the one thing you would like to change in the system?
I strongly believe that the focus needs to shift from a rigid emphasis on theoretical learning to a more holistic approach where learners, in addition to theoretical knowledge, imbibe valuable skills, creative thinking, and practical application of the knowledge acquired.
What is the role digital has played in the evolution of the education system?
Digitalisation has revolutionised education by making learning accessible globally, enabling interactive and immersive experiences, and fostering collaborative learning environments. With a more hands-on and competency-based learning approach, learners can finally access quality education without burning a hole in their pockets.
What has been the disadvantage of digital in education?
The only downside I can think of going digital in education is the increased screen time. However, the accessibility and affordability of the model trump the negligible negative effects that it has. To ensure democratisation and equal access to education, digital education is the right way forward.
What is the career advice you would like to give to students?
The first and foremost advice would be to prioritise continuous learning. We live in a world where trends and technologies can change in the nick of time. It is essential that they embrace technology, and inculcate the qualities of adaptability and resilience. The goal should be to seek practical experience and build a far-reaching network, which will help them navigate the evolving job market successfully.
