LeapScholar and Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), a private research institution in the United States (US), have jointly introduced two hybrid master’s degree programmes. Building on their existing partnership, LeapScholar claims to offer Indian students the opportunity to pursue CWRU MS in Biomedical Engineering and MS in Mechanical Engineering programmes in a hybrid format at a reduced cost, according to an official release.
The fall session for the Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering programmes is set to commence online in August 2024. Applications for both programmes will become available to Indian students in early 2024. The deadline for application submission is July 28, 2024.
Under this initiative, students will complete part of their coursework online in India and attend the remaining classes on CWRU’s campus in Cleveland, Ohio. This hybrid learning approach significantly slashes the overall expenses for students, reducing the MS in Biomedical Engineering programme costs by up to 30% (approximately $20,556 or Rs 17 lakh) and the MS in Mechanical Engineering programme costs by a similar percentage, depending on currency conversion rates, the release mentioned.
“The interest in hybrid master’s programmes is growing rapidly among Indian students and our expanding partnership with CWRU strengthens our commitment towards making more programs available at an affordable cost. The two new MS programmes will create world-class opportunities for those looking to pursue international careers in Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering,” Vaibhav Singh, co-founder, Leap said.
Importantly, the traditional requirements of GRE scores and English proficiency tests have been waived, broadening accessibility to these programmes. Moreover, both programmes have received STEM designation, granting students the opportunity to qualify for a three-year post-study work visa upon graduation, akin to full-time international students, as per the release.
