The National Testing Agency (NTA) has made changes to the dates for the Indian Institute of Technology’s Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) Main session 2. This decision comes after a clash was found between the IIT-JEE Main session 2 and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examination dates.

The CBSE released the exam schedule for classes 10 and 12 on December 12, 2023, but it was later revised. NTA had announced the IIT-JEE dates in September of the previous year. Upon reviewing both schedules, it was noticed that the examination dates overlapped.

The first session of JEE Main 2024 is planned from January 24 to February 1, taking place before the commencement of CBSE Class 12 exams, which are set to begin on February 15.

The CBSE Class 12 board examination is scheduled to conclude on April 2. However, the second session of JEE Main 2024 clashes with these board exams, scheduled between April 1 and April 15, as per the NTA circular.

In response to the clash, CBSE has requested NTA to reschedule the second session of JEE Main and urged parents to follow up with NTA. A CBSE spokesperson stated, “Parents are advised to follow up with NTA while the board will also send a request,” as reported by The Hindu.

The Director General of NTA, Subodh Singh, announced that the JEE Main second session, initially set between April 1 to 15, will now be conducted after April 3.

CBSE released a revised date sheet on January 4, introducing changes to the exam dates for some subjects of Class 10 and 12. Notably, the CBSE Class 12 Fashion Studies exam, originally scheduled for March 11, has been postponed to March 21. Additionally, the Class 10 Tibetan exam, initially set for March 4, has been rescheduled to February 23, and the Class 10 Retail exam, initially set for February 16, has been moved to February 28.
