In a last-minute decision, Delhi University’s (DU) Faculty of Law has postponed the upcoming LLB examinations, which were set to commence on Thursday. The announcement, made on Wednesday, affects students in the second, fourth, and sixth semesters who were scheduled to take their exams from July 4-26.
Reason for Postponement
The deferment is attributed to issues related to student attendance. DU Registrar Vikas Gupta explained the situation to The Indian Express, stating, “There were some issues with the attendance of students. We are going to hold remedial classes to meet the required attendance criterion and we will notify the fresh dates for the examination soon.”
A formal notification from Anju Vali Tikoo, the Head and Dean of DU’s Faculty of Law, confirmed the postponement. The notice, issued under the orders of the Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh, stated, “Under the orders of the Vice Chancellor (Yogesh Singh), the examinations of LLB II/IV/VI term scheduled from 4th July are postponed. Fresh dates would be notified in due course.”
The university’s decision to reschedule the exams aims to ensure all students meet the necessary attendance requirements before sitting for their assessments. The revised examination dates will be announced shortly, providing students with an opportunity to fulfil their attendance obligations through remedial classes.
