CBSE Class 12 results: Weeks after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released the Class 12th Board exam results the education body has been flooded with an unprecedented number of reevaluation requests. Several students who were not content with their Class 12th results have approached the board over the results. Sonali, a Delhi student, who scored over 90 percent marks in all subjects apart from maths, approached the board for reevaluation and saw her marks get a boost from 68 to 95. Another student who had approached the board after the results showed that she only managed to score a 42 in her maths exam received 90 marks after re-evaluation, according to the Times of India.

A CBSE official, who is working with the exam department, has admitted that there were errors in the examination process. The official added that there have been errors due to various reasons, which range from supplementary answer sheets getting detached, incorrect transfer of the marks to the first page of the answer booklet to errors in the tallying of marks by the board. The official also said that the number of applications for marks verification has been unprecedented, according to the report.

CBSE currently only allows for verification of marks. For reevaluation, a student must get a court order in order to be entertained by the board. A parent on the condition of anonymity told Tims of India that the board’s decision to link the verification and obtaining photocopy is not student friendly. The parent said, ”All students should be allowed to get their answer booklets and if they want to they should be able to apply for reevaluation.”

Sonali, whose marks were increased from 68 to 95, said that unlike her, many students are not confident and don’t go through with the verification process, according to the ToI.
