US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who is in India as part of her multi-nation visit, spoke about a variety of topics in an exclusive interview with news agency ANI on Monday. Regarding questions about Deep State assets and whether US intelligence agents were involved in regime change in India, Gabbard said that, to her knowledge, the answer is no. She also acknowledged a separate incident where, for an extended period, some intelligence professionals used an intelligence-based chat network for inappropriate and unprofessional conversations of a sexually explicit nature.
‘People are welcoming here’: Gabbard on her India visit
On being asked how she is liking her visit to India, Gabbard gave a big smile and said that she “loved India” and the fact that people are so welcoming here. She also said that she refers to Lord Krishna’s teachings in the Bhagavad Gita in the best of time and in the worst of times. “Whether serving in war zones in different parts of the world or the challenges that we face now, it is Krishna’s teachings to Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita that I turn to in the best of times and the worst of times,” she told ANI in an exclusive interview.
On India-US economic ties
While attending the Observer Research Foundation’s annual Raisina Dialogues in the capital, Tulsi Gabbard spoke to ANI about the potential to strengthen the economic ties between India and the US. She mentioned that during her recent conversations with Indian government officials, it became clear that there is significant potential for improving the economic relationship. Gabbard expressed satisfaction that discussions were being viewed positively, rather than just focusing on negative issues like tariffs.
‘We have two great leaders’: Gabbard on PM Modi and US President Trump’s leadership
Gabbard noted that both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Trump are working to serve the best interests of their respective countries, with an emphasis on economic growth and opportunities for their people. She added that the two leaders share a great relationship and that will act as a foundation on which the two countries will build their partnership.
‘Direct dialogue at the top’
The US Director of National Intelligence expressed that both President Trump and Prime Minister Modi are focused on finding effective solutions. She highlighted the positive aspect of having two leaders who are committed to resolving issues. She also mentioned that direct discussions between the top leaders, as well as with various cabinet members and secretaries, will be essential in shaping the way forward. She added that she is excited about the strong interest from the private sector in both India and the United States.
‘Ensuring Stability: Gabbard on China
Regarding China, the US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, expressed appreciation for both President Trump and Prime Minister Modi’s practical and pragmatic approaches. She noted that they are focused on finding a balance that would help prevent conflict. She said that their shared goal is to achieve peace and maintain stability.
Gabbard on Pakistan-sponsored terrorism
On the issue of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, Tulsi Gabbard stated that President Trump has consistently shown a strong commitment to combating Islamist terrorism, which has been a persistent threat to the US and continues to affect countries like India and Bangladesh. She pointed out that this threat is also ongoing in places like Syria, Israel, and other parts of the Middle East. Gabbard noted that Prime Minister Modi shares this concern, and both leaders are working together to address and eliminate this threat.
