Kanpur Mayor Pramila Pandey, during a meeting held at the Kanpur Municipal Corporation on Wednesday, June 12, angrily threw a file at an official, narrowly missing his face. A video of the incident shows Pandey losing her temper and scolding the civic body officer in front of others, telling him to “get out.”

Speaking to the media, Mayor Pandey explained that the Municipal Corporation employees have been negligent in their duties. She noted that during meetings, employees tend to blame each other. To address this, Pandey arranged a face-to-face meeting between the engineering and health departments to identify shortcomings and provide clear instructions. The primary goal was to ensure that city drains do not get clogged before the rains, maintaining cleanliness in Kanpur.

In the meeting, the mayor reportedly warned the engineer that if the drains get clogged this rainy season, he would be held accountable. Pandey’s anger stemmed from a false report presented to her, which misrepresented the actual situation.

The incident was captured on camera and quickly went viral on social media. The video drew mixed reactions from the public. While many criticized Mayor Pandey’s behavior as rude and uncalled for, others supported her actions. Supporters argued that clogged drains cause significant problems during the rainy season, and officials responsible for such negligence should be held accountable.
