The Congress on Monday claimed that the scam that plagued the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, also called the Vyapam, affected around 76 lakh candidates 2007 to 2013.
“Vyapam was established for examinations and in 2008, its mandate was expanded to include recruitment examinations. Rampant corruption took place in examinations conducted by Vyapam, affecting nearly 76 lakh candidates between 2007 to 2013. Laxmikant Sharma, now arrested, was higher education minister in Madhya Pradesh. Between December 2008 to March 2012, Shivraj Singh Chouhan was Medical Education Minister in the state as he held the portfolio with himself,” Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said.
