At least 12 people were killed and 16 others injured when a roadways bus collided with a van on National Highway 93 near Agra on Friday, officials reported. The accident occurred as the bus attempted to overtake the van, hitting it from behind, according to Superintendent of Police Nipun Agarwal.

The injured were rushed to a government hospital, with four in critical condition. The passengers were traveling from Hathras to Agra when the tragic accident took place. Authorities are investigating the incident further.

Hathras DM Ashish Kumar said, “It was a collision between a roadways bus and a loader vehicle. The accident happened due to the overtaking. We have been informed about 12 deaths in the incidents. This incident happened on a highway. Sixteen injured people have been brought here, out of which 4 have been referred.”
