TMC Candidate List 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday trained guns on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) for nominating veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha as its candidate from Asansol in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya said in a post on X, while sharing an old clip from Sinha’s film, wrote, “Meet Shatrughan Sinha, TMC’s candidate from Asansol. TMC rank is full of rapists, both in real (likes of Shahjahan Sheikh) and reel life.”
“Surprised Mamata Banerjee didn’t ask Shatrughan Sinha to join her on the eve of International Women’s Day for the sham women empowerment march,” Malviya added.
The BJP’s attack comes a day after TMC announced its list of 42 candidates in West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Amit Malviya also labelled Trinamool Congress’s candidate list as a ‘damp squib’, pointing out the inclusion of seven former BJP members, some of whom he said were “discards”.
He further added Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad and Yusuf Pathan are ‘Bohiragotos’ (outsiders) and wondered if the party “didn’t find enough sons of the soil to field?”
“TMC list of candidates is such a damp squib. 7 of the 42 (17% of the names) in the list are former BJP, some discards. The TMC doesn’t have enough candidates of its own? Of them, Shatrughan Sinha, Kirti Azad and Yousuf Pathan are Bohiragotos. TMC didn’t find enough sons of the soil to field?” Malviya wrote in his tweet.
Malviya also highlighted the candidacy of Abu Taher Khan, whose SUV allegedly dragged and killed a child. “Did TMC have any less criminals that Mamata Banerjee needed Taher on the list?” he asked.

The BJP leader also questioned the inclusion of Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from Parliament for multiple violations.
Expressing concern about Trinamool’s attempt to distance itself from the appeasement politics charge, Malviya noted that the party had fielded only six Muslim candidates compared to seven in the previous elections.
Referring to the ongoing unrest in Sandeshkhali and Shahjahan Sheikh’s arrest over charges of land grab and sexual assault, Malviya said, “2024 Lok Sabha elections will mark the beginning of the end of Mamata Banerjee’s misrule in Bengal”.
