The Telangana government will commence its socio-economic and caste survey on November 6, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka announced on Tuesday.

During a video conference with district collectors, Vikramarka emphasised the importance of conducting the survey meticulously to ensure accurate results.

“This socio-economic survey will inform policies and uplift marginalised communities starting November 6th,” he said on X.

Vikramarka noted that teachers could assist as enumerators for the survey, which aims to gather crucial data about various socio-economic indicators.

State Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar previously mentioned on October 26 that the survey was expected to start around November 4-5 and is projected to be completed by November 30.

This initiative aligns with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to conducting caste surveys in Telangana and nationwide. The government plans to involve approximately 80,000 employees, all of whom will receive proper training for their roles in the survey.

Additionally, the Telangana Commission for Backward Classes recently began public hearings to collect representations from interested parties, following a directive from Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

The deadline for submitting data is December 9, after which the commission will recommend the percentage of reservations for backward classes in local bodies based on the findings.
