Two Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders are likely to take oath as Union Ministers in the NDA government on Sunday, reports The Indian Express. Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu (36), a three-time MP from Srikakulam, is set to be sworn in as a Cabinet minister. Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, aged 48 and a first-time MP, will take the oath as a minister of state.

In a post on X by former TDP MP Galla Jayadev, he wrote, “Congratulations to my young friend @RamMNK on being confirmed as a cabinet minister in the new #NDA Government! Your sincerity and humble nature will surely be an asset to the development of the country. Wishing you all the best in your new role!”

In another post, he wrote, “Congratulations to Dr. @PemmasaniOnX on being confirmed as a Minister of State. Such an honour to serve the nation at the central level during your very first political stint.”

Modi will take oath as the prime minister for a third consecutive term. He and his council of ministers will be sworn in by President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, following the ruling National Democratic Alliance’s victory in a keenly contested Lok Sabha election.

With 16 Lok Sabha members in its kitty, the TDP’s support to the BJP-led NDA government at the centre becomes crucial. The NDA alliance of TDP, BJP and Janasena in Andhra Pradesh collectively won the lion’s share of 21 seats out of 25.

Naidu is a three-time Lok Sabha member while Pemmasani, considered to be the richest MP, was elected to the House for the first time.

Naidu, among the youngest MPs in the state, clinched victory for the third consecutive time from north Andhra Pradesh’s Srikakulam constituency. He won defeating Tilak Perada of YSRCP with an impressive margin of 3.2 lakh votes. Holding an MBA degree, Naidu serves as the national general secretary of TDP and holds the floor leader position in the Lok Sabha. His late father, K Yerran Naidu, a former MLA and MP, was a respected senior leader of the party, having served as a Union minister during the United Front government from 1996 to 1998.

Dr. Chandra Sekhar, hailing from a family with a longstanding association with the TDP, contested and won for the first time in the recent elections. He secured victory against YSRCP’s Kilari Venkata Rosaiah with an impressive margin of 3.4 lakh votes. He is an NRI medical doctor and one of the wealthiest candidates, with his family possessing assets valued at over Rs 5,785 crore.
