The Supreme Court’s YouTube channel has likely been hacked and is showing videos about cryptocurrency developed by a company called Ripple Labs.

People trying to access the channel since Friday morning could see there were some ads while some users were redirected to a different YouTube channel.

A blank video with the title “Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC’s $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION” is live at present on the hacked channel, Bar and Bench reported.

A senior SC official told the Indian Express that though he is not sure about what exactly happened, the website “appears to have been compromised”.

He added it was detected on Friday morning and the Supreme Court’s IT team had taken it up with the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

The Supreme Court uses its YouTube channel to stream live hearings of cases listed before the constitution benches and matters involving public interest. Recently, the hearings of the suo motu case on the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape and murder case were streamed live on YouTube.
