Counting votes of the Sikkim Assembly Elections will be held today, June 2. Counting of votes for the Sikkim Assembly elections 2024, conducted on April 19, will commence at 6 am, with Election authorities anticipating the completion of counting and declaration of results for the 32 Assembly constituencies by 2 pm at the latest.

The total voter turnout in Sikkim was 79.88 per cent, which is lower than the 2019 Assembly election, according to the ECI.

With 32 assembly seats in Sikkim, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) and the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) are the main players in the elections. The other two important parties are the BJP and Congress. Currently, the SKM is ruling the state under Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.

Previous Assembly Elections in Sikkim 2019

In the 2019 Sikkim Assembly Election, the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) won a majority with 17 seats, leading to Prem Singh Tamang becoming the Chief Minister. The incumbent Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) was reduced to 15 seats. In contrast, in the 2014 Sikkim Assembly Election, the SDF secured 22 seats, allowing Pawan Kumar Chamling to become Chief Minister for the fifth consecutive term.
