Two staff members at Saif Ali Khan’s residence have identified a Bangladeshi man, Shariful Fakir, as the attacker who entered the actor’s home last month, according to Mumbai police. Fakir, also known as Vijay Das, was arrested last month for allegedly stabbing Khan and is currently in judicial custody, reports PTI.

The police conducted an identification parade on Wednesday at the Arthur Road jail. Eliyamma Phillip, a staffer at Khan’s residence, and housekeeper Junu both identified Fakir as the attacker. Phillip, who was also allegedly attacked by Fakir, is the primary witness in the case.

A facial recognition test had previously confirmed that Fakir’s face matched the individual seen in CCTV footage from the building where Khan lives.

The attack took place on January 16, when Fakir allegedly broke into Khan’s apartment and stabbed him six times before fleeing. Fakir was arrested three days later in Thane.

Khan, 54, underwent two surgeries after the attack and was discharged from Lilavati Hospital on January 21.
