With days left for the Ram temple inauguration in Ayodhya, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said that the construction of the Ayodhya temple marks the fulfilment of a long-cherished dream while describing the demolished Babri Mosque as a ‘symbol of slavery.’

The Ram Mandir is set to be inaugurated on January 22, with rituals for the event beginning on January 16.

Referring to the Babri Masjid’s destruction by “kar sevaks” in December 1992, Bhagwat mentioned that while the symbol of slavery was dismantled in Ayodhya, there was no collateral damage to any other mosque in the vicinity. He highlighted that the actions of the kar sevaks did not spark riots in any other location.

The RSS chief said, “It is a joy to have the temple built. But there is still a lot of work to be done, and it has to be kept in mind that the struggle due to which this dream is being fulfilled should continue in the future also so that the destination is achieved.” Bhagwat made these remarks in an address during his three-day visit to Haryana, as PTI reported.

Furthermore, he underscored the need for the entire nation to stand together to remove all evils from the world and become a ‘Vishwa Guru.’

Bhagwat also noted the resilience of Hindu culture, stressing its long history and how despite numerous challenges, it has retained its identity while many other cultures around the world have faded over time.

He remarked, “Despite having so many languages, gods and goddesses, diverse religions, every person in India, from North to South and from East to West, believes that we have to live in such a way that the world learns to live by watching it.”
