Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu recently claimed that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had once approached him expressing his readiness to join the party and be “deputy”.
Sidhu made this revelation during a media interview when he was questioned about rumours of his potential BJP affiliation. He shared a clip of the interview on his social media handle on March 6.
“I can tell you one thing about who had approached (me). Bhagwant Mann sahab had come to me. If he tells, I will even tell him the place (where they met),” he stated.
Notably, there was no immediate response from Mann regarding Sidhu’s claims.

“He told me paaji, I am ready to be your deputy if I get him to join the Congress. And he also told me that if you join the Aam Aadmi Party, he was still ready to be my deputy,” the Congress leader added.
Sidhu further asserted that he conveyed his unwavering allegiance to Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, emphasising his inability to depart from their leadership.
He informed Mann that if he wished, he could join the Congress and advised him to engage with the party leadership in Delhi. Following this exchange, there were no further discussions, Sidhu added.
Stressing his primary goal of serving the people of Punjab, Sidhu criticised the AAP government led by Mann for the state’s escalating debt. He pointed out the irony of the government’s use of aircraft and luxury vehicles while Punjab’s residents bear the burden of the mounting debt.
