Rajasthan Results 2023 Latest News: Ashok Gehlot submitted his resignation to Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra after the poll rout in the state. The BJP has won 107 seats and is set to form the next government in Rajasthan. The Congress, on other hand, has been restricted to just 60 seats. The 72-year-old, who was hoping to break the revolving door trend in Rajasthan conceded his defeat earlier in the day. Gehlot said that the setback suffered by the Congress was “unexpected for everyone.” However, he dismissed suggestions that introducing “new faces” could have aided the party in retaining power.
In a seeming remark on new leadership in the Grand Old Party, Gehlot said that, “It would be wrong to say that we would have won the election if new faces were brought.” Gehlot and former Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot, who advocated for passing the leadership to the next generation, were entangled in a power struggle since the Congress came to power in the state in 2018. In 2020, Pilot orchestrated a revolt against the Gehlot Government, leading to his removal from the positions of the party’s state unit president and Deputy Chief Minister.
