A Rajasthan man allegedly killed his daughter by slitting her throat and later set her body on fire on Tuesday afternoon in Pali, Rajasthan.
The accused has been identified as Shivlal Meghwal, who has been living separately in Pali from his family for 12 years while his wife and children lived in Gujarat, as revealed in the preliminary investigation by the police, PTI reported.
The deceased’s kin told the police that the accused thought his married elder daughter Nirma (32) was the cause of family strife.

According to the complaint, the victim’s father met her when she arrived in Isali village, Pali, on Monday for a wedding ceremony. He then asked the victim and her younger sister to accompany him to a place.
He asked his younger daughter to wait while he continued walking with Nirma and took her to a remote location where he allegedly slashed her throat and sprinkled gasoline on her corpse before setting her on fire, the complaint stated.

Upon the father’s return, his other daughter spotted blood on his hand, she raised an alarm and called the villagers, who then alerted the police upon discovering Nirma’s half-burnt body, the police said.
A case has been registered under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code and currently, police are making efforts to arrest the accused who is absconding.
