As the polling for 199 seats in Rajasthan is underway, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has slammed Rahul Gandhi for his post on X, accusing him of violating poll guidelines.
The saffron party has urged the Election Commission to suspend the Congress leader’s social media account and initiate other actions against him.

In the post on X, Rahul Gandhi urged voters, in view of the assembly elections in the state, to press the hand button, stating, “Rajasthan will choose free treatment. Rajasthan will choose cheaper gas cylinders. Rajasthan will choose interest-free agricultural loans. Rajasthan will choose English education. Rajasthan will choose OPS. Rajasthan will choose caste census.
Based on this post, the BJP has taken action against Gandhi, writing to the Election Commission, stating that his post violates the silence period of 48 hours, during which any type of campaigning is barred. The BJP accused the former Congress chief of violating the Representation of the People Act and the Model Code of Conduct, seeking action from the EC.

“The social media platform X and its functionaries may also be directed to immediately suspend the account and remove the aforestated offending contents with immediate effect lest it further violates the 48-hour silence zone and cause irreparable injury to the doctrine of free and fair elections,” it read, as PTI reported.
Additionally, the BJP urged the poll panel to instruct the Chief Election Officer of Rajasthan to initiate legal action, including filing a criminal complaint and initiating prosecution against Gandhi.
