After the final leg of the ongoing Lok Sabha election 2024 campaign ended on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari to embark on a 45-hour meditation session at the Vivekananda Rock Memorial. The PM began his visit by offering prayers at the Bhagavathi Amman temple in Thiruvananthapuram before heading to the iconic memorial. His meditation session, scheduled to last nearly two days, underscores the symbolic end to his poll campaigning.
PM Modi is also expected to visit the Thiruvalluvar statue, situated next to the memorial, before his departure on June 1, news agency PTI reported. Both the memorial and the statue are located on small, mound-like rocky islets in the sea.
Extensive security arrangements, including the deployment of 2,000 police personnel, have been put in place to ensure the safety of the Prime Minister during his stay. Additionally, the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy are maintaining a tight vigil in the area, PTI reported.
This meditation schedule marks a continuation of Modi’s tradition of meditating at significant spiritual sites, as he had done at a Kedarnath cave following the 2019 election campaign. Modi will meditate at Dhyan Mandapam, where Vivekananda is believed to have had a divine vision of ‘Bharat Mata’.
