A Delhi court on Friday allowed the Delhi Police to conduct the polygraph test of five of the six accused who were arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach case. The court also extended their police custody by eight days, reported The Indian Express.

The five accused are – Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Dhanraj Shinde, Lalit Jha and Mahesh Kumawat. Neelam Azad denied consent for polygraph test.

Additional Sessions Judge Hardeeep Kaur allowed the investigating officer to conduct the polygraph test or lie detector test of the five. The judge passed the order after noting the consent of the accused, excluding Azad, to conduct their polygraph test.

The application was moved by Delhi Police who sought to conduct a polygraph test on all the six accused and sought to conduct brain mapping and narcotics test on accused Manoranjan D and Sagar Sharma.

In a massive security breach on December 13, on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, two people – Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D — jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber and released yellow gas canisters, while outside the Parliament premises, two accused – Shinde and Azad – also sprayed coloured gas canisters and shouted slogans of “tanashahi nahi chalegi” (stop dictatorship).
